New country singer Justine Blanchet launches “Got Away”

No need to say, new country is gaining ground in Quebec. After Matt Lang, Britanny Kennell, Phil G. Smith and many others, here is a young singer-songwriter stepping into the arena.
Justine Blanchet will be releasing a brand new single next Monday called Got Away.

For the 19-year-old artist from Saint-Jérôme, country has been running in her veins for a very long time and in recent years, she has stepped on the accelerator to make her music heard more and more.

“I have been singing since I was very young,” she confides in Law. After having an appendectomy when I was 11, I told myself that I had to live each day like it was the last and the only thing I wanted to do, it was music. “

After basic training in lyric singing (opera) and four years in the air cadets where she took part in a few singing competitions, Justine naturally turned to new country.

“I’m writing more and more songs,” she adds. I love storytelling and country is the perfect vehicle to do it. For Got Away, for example, it’s the most personal song I’ve written so far. In it I tell the story of one person who has to move away from another who does not deserve it and from experience I can confirm that it is painful. “

The musician who accompanies herself on the guitar wants to continue to exploit her storytelling side which suits the style of music she has adopted.

“I really like the authenticity of the lyrics in country music,” she explains. It is this simplicity that attracts me. Today, I prefer not to complicate my life any more than it is right now with the pandemic. I focus on the present and on what I can control. Writing songs and performing them is what I do best then, I might as well make the most of it. “

“I write more and more songs. I love storytelling and country is the perfect vehicle to do it. “

A touch of Nashville

For the production, Justine turned to Yann Bélanger. Member of the Emerson Drive group, Bélanger is based in Mont-Laurier where he operates Studio Nashville North.

The collaboration between Bélanger and Blanchet is not new. The guitarist from Emerson Drive has produced his last two singles, in which we can easily feel the “nashvillesque” touch of Bélanger in the production.

Like the song Strong – which garnered 120,000 views on YouTube – released in January 2019 and Heartbeat launched last summer (150,000 views on YouTube), Got Away will be followed by a music video that will be available on August 28 on the channel. YouTube of the artist.

As for shows, like all artists, his agenda is not overflowing with commitments.

“I have a performance to do this weekend at a campsite in Ontario, but that’s it. I will continue to write songs, prepare a mini-album and we will see what happens, ”she concludes with a rather surprising wisdom for a young woman of 19 years.
